EGIAN Names New Chair

26 Feb 2008

Andrew Brown, international business projects director at Baker Tilly International, has been named chair of the European Group of International Accounting Networks (EGIAN). Andrew takes over the position from David Maxwell, member of Grant Thornton's national management board.
The EGIAN group represents the European members of leading international networks outside the Big 4. Comprising 20 members which generate some €5bn in revenues and employ around 79,000 people in Europe, it allows mid tier firms to discuss and put forward a common opinion on the key developments affecting the profession in Europe.
Brown believes the group has an important role to fulfil: "The accountancy profession is undergoing significant and rapid change driven by new regulation and market demand. EGIAN allows its members to raise concerns of mutual interest and collectively lobby the key regulators on important issues to ensure that the public interest, the interests of all stakeholders and the interests of the members are promoted".
Andrew Brown has, since 2006, responsibility at Baker Tilly International to develop and work on international business development projects in the public and private sectors.
