Timothy L. Christen to Chair AICPA Major Firms Group

Timothy L. Christen, CEO of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, has been appointed to serve a three-year term as Chair of the Major Firms Group (MFG) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Formed in the mid-1970s, the MFG consists of more than 75 of the nation's top 100 firms who have 75 or more AICPA members. It acts as a unified voice representing the interests of national and regional firms, and is a powerful advocate of thought leadership for the profession. Christen continues to serve as a member of the AICPA Board of Directors, working in conjunction with the organisation's national council to oversee management and services that impact the more than 350,000 AICPA members nationwide. He is also a member of the AICPA Compensation Committee.

In addition to his involvement with the AICPA, Christen is a member of the Baker Tilly International Board of Directors and the Baker Tilly North American Regional Council. He has been recognised by Accounting Today as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the accounting profession, and as one of the five Most Admired Peers by fellow Major Firm Managing Partners, according to Inside Public Accounting.

On 1 June 2009, the former Virchow, Krause & Company, LLP changed its name to become the exclusive US branded firm in the Baker Tilly International network. The transition to the Baker Tilly brand is a commitment by the firm to meet the ever -changing global needs of its clients. On 1 December 2009, the firm announced a merger with Beers + Cutler, a leading Washington, DC firm.
